Health Match BC is a health professional recruitment service funded by the Government of British Columbia (BC), Canada. Since 1999, we have successfully recruited thousands of Canadian and internationally educated health professionals to BC. In addition to its marketing and recruitment programs, Health Match BC is also responsible for Locums for Rural BC, Practice Ready Assessment - BC, and the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry. Partners in these programs include BC’s health authorities, the Ministry of Health, Doctors of BC, and a range of regulatory agencies.
The Executive Director, Health Match BC reports to the President & CEO and is responsible for providing leadership, direction and management of Health Match BC and its programs. As a provincial expert in the area of recruitment, retention and health human resources, you will develop strategic and innovative policies and programs to support recruitment and retention practices. You will also identify and pursue opportunities to promote the activities of HEABC/Health Match BC at the local, regional, national and international level.
The Executive Director supports the Ministry of Health in providing rural and urban health services and provides strategic leadership and plans for marketing health professional employment opportunities throughout the world. You will also work closely with other partners including the Doctors of BC and the health authorities.
The successful candidate will bring leadership, vision, strong relationship building skills and superior communication abilities to the role. An exceptional ability to develop partnerships, build consensus and plan, develop, and evaluate programs and services is important for success. While a deep understanding of the field would be preferred, strong leadership skills are essential. Understanding the health care challenges facing rural and remote communities as well as urban areas will be an asset.
Along with a Masters’ degree in a relevant area, you have 10 or more years’ experience in increasingly complex leadership roles. You have a proven ability to operate as a strategic business partner, build partnerships, set vision and direction. You are able to demonstrate a solid history of implementing successful programs and can influence and negotiate sensitive situations and relationships.
As Executive Director, you will lead and provide direction, supervision and mentoring for a team of more than 25 professionals who are making a strategic impact by supporting provincial strategies to recruit physicians, specialty nurses and other allied health professionals to BC communities in need.
